About the park

This park is a gem of an open space, serving a large community on the eastern side of Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Known by some locally as Bordesley Green Recreation Ground, it is a large section of open parkland situated next to the River Cole and flanked by woodland areas. It also has many well-defined paths, of which many are tarmac making it accessible all year round.

It forms part of Kingfisher Country Park a 11-km greenspace project set up in 2004 between Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. The country park follows the course of the River Cole and runs through East Â鶹ÊÓƵ and North Solihull from Hay Mills to Chelmsley Wood.

People out for a stroll, jog, run or cycle can take advantage of paths that link onto the River Cole walkway, which, eventually, joins up to the Grand Union Canal towpath.

Dedicated tree planting charity Â鶹ÊÓƵ Trees For Life has worked with local groups, including pupils from nearby school Alston Primary to plant new saplings in order to help spread the woodland on the site.
